Beasley Assembly!

Today was the day!  Today, the SMART program shared with all 7th and 8th graders all about the SMART program.  During the assembly, we showed the PSAs, the results from a knowledge test before the program began, and gave our ideas about the intervention that will be rolled out in the next week or so.  The assembly went great, the students liked the PSA and the SMART participants got to share with their friends and classmates what they have learned and accomplished over the past couple of months!

SOURCE: Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, 2009

In Illinois, the percent of all adults who have asthma is greater than or equal to 9%.

The percent of people of all ages with asthma is expected to rise in the next couple of years.

Word Cloud

We created a word cloud to illustrate what asthma means to us.  We used words to describe not only asthma but what we still are able to participate in as well.

Lights, Camera, ACTION!

PSA acting and filming continued today at the Beasley SMART program.  Everyone is still getting used to being in front and behind the camera but it is fun!

Public Service Announcement Fun!

Currently, the students are busy creating their own PSAs (Public Service Announcements) about asthma and asthma in their communities.  This includes writing the scripts, making props, filming the scenes and acting!  Be on the lookout for two PSAs, one starring Asthma Man and the other giving important asthma facts!
